“Sinners” was nominated for 16 awards, a record breaking number. The movie was expected to make a sweep at the Oscars this year. When the movie only won four of the 16 awards, fans weren’t happy.
The Oscars have never given out the title of “Best Picture” to horror movies, despite many chances to do so. The exception being “The Silence of the Lambs,” but that is counted as a crime thriller. Fans fled online to discuss their feelings
“‘Sinners’ is the most-nominated film in Academy Awards history,” movie enthusiast Mike Hamilton Jr said. “And its director just lost Best Director.”
With these losses, some fans tried staying on the bright side and acknowledging Jordan’s Best Actor win, along with the other three the film received.
Even with these downsides, it’s still agreed that the 2026 Oscars had its positives. Buckley’s win is believed to be deserved. This night also involved a tie between two movies, something that shouldn’t even be possible. Both “The Singers” and “Two People Exchanging Saliva” went home with the win for Best Live Action Short Film. It’s safe to say that the 2026 Oscars had many unforgettable moments and wins.

honestly I thought that while the movie that actually won best picture & director was good, and I was happy the director finally won, Sinners by far was the better movie with a better message and symbolisms. And Golden winning over I Lied To You was not my favorite, it only won because it was popular not because it was better
