Since its opening on Fruitville Pike in summer of 2024, small Asian bakery Hello Mango has served its customers unique and flavorful desserts. Their products range from custom cakes to light, sweet and fruity delicacies that are refreshing with every bite. The interior of the bakery followed a cute mango inspired theme, with comfortable indoor seating options. It was a bright and colorful environment, and it was very fun to walk in and look at. We took a trip to the bakery and tried five different items; here’s what we thought of them.

Coffee Cream Cake
Anika: The first thing I noticed when opening the packaging was the sweet smell of the coffee flavored cream. As I took my first bite, I made sure it contained a perfect balance of cream and cake. The taste of sweet whipped coffee cream filled my mouth, and the taste of coffee was neither too strong, nor nonexistent. The cream was just the perfect amount of sweet. However, as the cream dissolved in my mouth, and I was left with just the cake part, I noticed a hint of dryness as I kept chewing. The cream with the cake was absolute perfection, but just the cake itself was dry and quite crumbly. Overall, I rated this a 7.5/10 because of the way the cream and cake combo blessed my mouth with a flavorful, pleasant whipped coffee taste. As a coffee lover myself, this dessert did not disappoint.
Siyana: As we opened our first item, the light smell of coffee filled the air. The dessert was two layers of cake joined together with a light cream. Though some of the cream on top had stuck to the cap, we made it work by scooping some of it while eating the cake itself. The item was great; it had a nice base along with a delicate coffee taste. As someone who doesn’t enjoy extremely bitter flavors, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it delivered the signature coffee taste while still being sweet. However, as we accidentally finished the cream that had come off on the top, the cake became slightly bland. After finishing it up, my rating for this dessert was 7.5/10.
Chocolate Mousse Square
Anika: As I first set my eyes upon the mousse square, I thought it would be my favorite, but that thought changed when I tasted it. The smell of the dessert held a lingering scent of cocoa beans that was incredibly appealing. When I took my spoon of the dessert, I made sure it featured both the chocolate ganache and the rich-looking cake. The first thing that stuck out to me was the bitterness of the frosting. As someone with an enormous sweet tooth, this dessert was too bitter for me to appreciate. However, the cake was very moist and incredibly inviting. I rated this a 5/10 overall, as I only found myself enjoying it when I was just eating the cake itself. It’s also important for me to note that this dessert made me crave water one bite in.
Siyana: I’m someone who isn’t a huge fan of overly chocolaty desserts, so when we ordered this item, I wasn’t feeling very optimistic. However, the packaging and presentation was very nice, and I was ready to give it a chance. As I sunk my fork into the square of chocolate cake and mousse, the moist dessert easily became one of my top choices of the day. The chocolate wasn’t too overpowering; dark chocolate was likely used, allowing it to be light, amusingly bitter and delicious. I was surprised by this choice, as it proved my initial assumptions wrong and turned out to be a memorable and pleasantly bitter cake. Unfortunately, after a while, the chocolate became too much, and I had to pause eating it. Dark chocolate lovers will adore this cake, but halfway through our portion, I found it to be a little too rich for my liking. Though I wish I could rank it higher, my rating for this dessert is 7/10.
Strawberry Cream Cup
Anika: This dessert instantly caught my attention with how it appeared in the cup. When I took a spoonful of the dessert, I was immediately captivated by the burst of flavor that exploded in my mouth. The luxurious, thick taste of the cream was perfectly paired with the moist vanilla cake and juicy, sweet strawberries. I rated this a 9/10 because of the way the dessert kept making me want more. However, this gave me a stomach ache after and had me rethinking my choices of gulping it down. This dessert was ultimately my favorite and I was very satisfied. I would recommend this for any new customers contemplating what to order.
Siyana: When we first got this dessert, I was very excited to try it. Though simple, its layers of light cream, cake and strawberries were the perfect combination. My spoon sunk into it effortlessly, and it melted in my mouth. The strawberries were the star of the show, shining through the blank canvas of the whipped cream. This dessert was easily one of my top choices, offering a light and refreshingly simple flavor. Anika and I finished it the quickest out of the other items, and with a rating of 8.5/10, I would definitely order it again.
Fun Fact: Anika loved this dessert so much she flung her spoon across the table.

Mango Coconut Mousse Mini
Anika: This dessert immediately caught my eye with its breathtaking design. The amount of detail present on the mousse was magnificent and very eye-catching. I had high hopes when tasting this dessert but was a little disappointed. I loved the mango taste with the cake base, however it overpowered the coconut mousse that was layered inside. As a fan of mango, the dessert didn’t let me down, but as a fan of coconut, I was a little disappointed with the lack of flavor present. Overall, I gave this a 6.5/10; it felt like a breath of fresh air when consuming it, but it left me expecting more.
Siyana: The design for this dessert was unique and fun. However, despite its impressive presentation, this dessert was my least favorite. I wish that I enjoyed it more than I did, but since I’m not a mango fan, it didn’t appeal to me. After taking only one bite, the rubbery, chewy texture set me off, and I let Anika finish it. As expected from my description, my rating for this item was a 5/10.

Taro Crème Brûle
Anika: Hearing the name itself, I was excited to try this dessert, but little did I know that it would end up being my least favorite out of all the desserts. I was incredibly excited to taste the taro part and was eager to experience another great item. When I put it in my mouth, I was immediately met with discontent. In my opinion, this dessert tastes like plaque on teeth. The dessert was sticky, bitter and did not meet my desire for flavoring. The only satisfying part of this dessert was the crunch of the torch-lit sugar on the top of the brûle. I was disheartened by the absence of taro in my bite. I gave this dessert 1/10, as I found I was not enjoying it at all and dreading every bite.
Siyana: I was considering ordering this item on our first round of tasting. However, due to the amount of other orders, I decided to hold off on it. But, as we finished the previous desserts, I felt myself yearning for it; I love taro and crème brûle, so I had to try this item. It’s a good thing I went back for it, as this was the best dessert I had while visiting Hello Mango. The crunchy top and signature crème brûle custard were paired seamlessly with a layer of taro cream at the bottom. Both flavors mixed excellently, giving me a sense of joy throughout the experience. The sugar on top was perfectly toasted, giving the dessert a much needed crunch. I finished this on my own after Anika said she didn’t like it, but it wasn’t overpowering even though it came after the other desserts I ate. With different sizes offered, the taro crème brûle is arguably the best dessert in this bakery. I give it a 10/10, and I would definitely order it again.
Our trip to Hello Mango was a splendid experience overall. We got to try many different desserts based on our preferences, as well as enjoy Asian delicacies. Though we weren’t able to try everything, we are quite certain that we will return one day and try more of their selection. If you are looking for a fun, unique environment accompanied with great food, Hello Mango is the perfect place to go.
