With us now being in 2026, that brings new movies that’ll release in theaters. Today I’ll be going over some of the standouts of his year going month by month.
February:
The second month of the year has films like “GOAT,” an animated movie by Sony starring Caleb McLaughlin and NBA player Steph Curry. “Wuthering Heights” a romance starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie, “Iron Lung” a movie made by YouTuber “Markiplier”, new installments for “The Strangers” and my most anticipated movie this month, “Scream 7.”
March:
March starts with “Hoppers”, the newest Disney Pixar movie, then “Project Hail Mary” starring Ryan Gosling, which is based off a book by the same name, written by Andy Weir. Also coming in March is “The Martian” and “Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come”, a sequel to the 2019 horror movie “Ready Or Not” with Samara Weaving returning to play her character.
April:
April starts off with a bang as the sequel to the animated “Super Mario” movie “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” comes out being even bigger than the first one. Lee Cronin’s “The Mummy” releases, being the newest retelling of the classic story. The final movie is the Micheal Jackson biopic “Micheal”, which tells his story from childhood to adulthood
May:
May starts the summer season and is filled with movies. May includes “The Devil Wears Prada 2”, the sequel to the 2000s classic. “Mortal Kombat 2” is the next installment in the new “Mortal Kombat” movie series with Karl Urban playing Johnny Cage. “The Mandalorian and Grogu” is the final chapter in Disney’s famous Star Wars show with Pedro Pascal coming back to play “Mando.”
June:
This month is where it starts to heat up, with the live action “Masters Of The Universe” movie. The Wayans brothers are back to direct “Scary Movie 6”, giving the horror comedy a new hope of reviving itself. James Gunn’s next movie in his new DC universe is “Supergirl.” Finally, one of the biggest movies of the year, “Toy Story 5”, is a new installment in the iconic franchise. And is almost certain that it’ll make $1 billion at the box office.
July:
July is one of the biggest months with “Minions & Monsters” starting it off, then going into the live action remake of Disney’s “Moana.” After that, Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated new movie “The Odyssey” releases. Based on the Greek tale, it is looking to be one of the best movies of the year. “Evil Dead Burn”, which is the newest in the series, is next, directed by Sam Raimi. To end the month is my second most anticipated movie of the year: “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, Marvel’s first of two very hyped up movies to come out this year. Promising to bring back the classic street-level feel of Spider-Man while featuring other characters like The Hulk and The Punisher, “Brand New Day” and “The Odyssey” are very likely to make $1 billion with “Brand New Day” having higher chances.
August:
So far August is looking to be the weakest of the summer with the third “Paw Patrol” movie, a new movie in the “Insideous” series and finally “Coyote vs Acme”, a live action and animated hybrid movie about RoadRunner’s villain Wile E. Coyote.
September:
September has “ClayFace”, another DC movie, about one of Batman’s iconic villains, then horror director Zack Cregger is making his own “Resident Evil” movie which will hopefully bring a faithful adaptation of one of the greatest horror games of all time. Finally Marvel is rereleasing “Avengers: Endgame” in theaters for the release of a movie which I’ll get to in December
October:
The spookiest month of the year brings us “The Social Reckoning”, which is the sequel to “The Social Network”, a new live action “Street Fighter” movie and, finally, “Remain”, a romantic thriller which M. Night Shyamalan helped create
November:
This month is packed with movies like “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender,” an animated movie which tells the story of the main characters of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” in the future. A new animated “Cat In The Hat” movie also releases; “Jimmy” a movie about James “Jimmy” Stewart and how he saved himself; “Godzilla Minus 2”, a sequel to “Godzilla Minus One” which is considered as the greatest “Godzilla” movie of all time; a new “Christmas Carol” movie; “I Play Rocky” is a movie about how Sylvester Stallone made the screenplay for the iconic “Rocky” movie; and also “Hexed”, another Disney movie. And finally “The Hunger Games: Sunrise On the Reaping” the second movie of “The Hunger Games” prequel series.
December:
The final month of the year gives us “Violent Night 2,” another sequel coming out this year, this time for the 2022 action movie. Also coming in December is “Werwulf”, Robert Eggers’ newest horror movie. In addition, the third movies in the “Jumanji” and “Angry Birds” franchises with The Rock and Kevin Hart coming back in the former. Finally, coming out on the same day is “Dune Part 3”, the third and final movie in the “Dune trilogy” based on the “Dune” book series by Frank Herbert. And, my most anticipated movie of the year “Avengers: Doomsday”, the newest Avengers movie which is playing the same role “Avengers: Infinity War” played back in 2018. In this case it builds up to “Avengers Secret Wars” bringing all the heroes together in order to face a new villain, Dr. Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr). The two films have been combined like “Barbenheimer” back in July 2023, being called “Dunesday.” It’s still unknown if it’ll be as successful as its predecessor but with “Doomsday” being almost a guarantee to make $1 billion, it seems very likely.
2026 is looking to be another year like 2023, 2024 and 2025 with movies that are not only fantastic but also smash hits at the box office.
