On Monday, March 23, the Township track and field team faced Penn Manor in their first home meet of the 2026 season. The boys team defeated the Comets 84-66, and the girls team fell 91-59.
Starting off in the sprints, senior Riley Rontal took third in the 100 meters. Junior Riley Whalen took second place in the 200 meters. Following up their performances, juniors Cruze Mack and Jay Frederick took first and third, respectively, in the 300-meter hurdles.
In both the 400 meters and 800 meters, the boys swept the top three places; senior Jack School, freshman Jayson Cammauf and senior Justin Blose in the 400 meters and seniors Luke Reinking, Luke Oles and junior Mason Sheaffer in the 800 meters. Senior Ben Doumaux and Sheaffer earned first and third, respectively, in the 1600 meters event. Senior Joshua Henshaw, junior Stephen Atteberry and freshman Penn Kametz also swept the 3200 meters event.
In the field events, senior Isaac Churchville placed first in discus and junior Carter Martin earned first in high jump. Junior Noah Shorter secured second in long jump. In pole vault, sophomore Rowan Stevens and senior Liam Dormer took first and third, respectively. Senior Jake Ruch and junior Ethan Liang secured both the first and third spots in shot put. Adding to the first and third placement streak here in triple jump, Mack and Shorter took first and third.
Township’s girls team lost to Penn Manor 91-59, but still held strong in several events. Freshman Julia Whitley and junior Melanie Moeller took second and third, respectively, in the 100 meters. Senior Ava Jackson secured third place in the 300-meter hurdles. Whitley again showcased her abilities by earning third place in the 400 meters. In the 800 meters, junior Piper Fogleman took second. Senior Georgia Ealy and freshman Ariel Hu secured first and third, respectively, in the 1600 meters. In the final long distance event, the 3200 meters, senior Kaila Atteberry took first and freshman Aniston Weaver placed third.
In the girls field events, senior Sidney Gumiran placed third in discus. In high jump, Atteberry also took third and senior Effie Papadimitriou took the top spot in javelin. In long jump, sophomore Michaela Katz and freshman Anne Hosler placed second and third, respectively. Juniors Emerson Hardy and Haydn Uveges took the top two spots in pole vault. In shot put, Papadimitriou got second and junior Haley Marino took third. To finish it off in the triple jump, Katz placed first.
The boys and girls teams both earned first for the 4x400m and 4x800m events. The boys 4x400m team included School, Whalen, Aiden Sharp and Cammauf. In the boys 4x800m, Sheaffer, Henshaw, Reinking and Cammauf made up the first place relay team. For the girls, Moeller, Lena Keares, Fogleman and Katz made up the winning 4x400m team. The first place girls 4x800m relay included Ealy, Fogleman, Marissa Delgado and Atteberry.
Township track and field competes next on Monday, March 30 at Lebanon High School starting at 4 p.m.
