This year, the Winter Olympics occurred in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, with the U.S. winning 12 gold medals, two of which came solely from ice hockey. This year, both the men and women took the victory, with both teams having an overall score of 2-1, defeating Canada.

The women’s team consists of 23 players with Caroline Harvey, Megan Keller, Hannah Bilka, Laila Edwards, Abbey Murphy and Alex Carpenter being leading scorers for the team throughout the Olympics. However, in the final game against Canada, players Hilary Knight and Keller led the U.S. to victory with a score of 2-1 scoring a tie breaking and an overtime goal in the game. This was a legendary moment for the women’s hockey team, as they have won silver to Canada consistently, securing gold just one other time in the past decade. The past victory came from the 2018 Olympics.

The men’s Olympic team consists of 25 players with Quinn Hughes, Jack Hughes, Auston Matthews and Zach Werenski being the leading scorers. In the final game, Matt Boldy scored the opening goal six minutes into the first period. The U.S. did not score any other goals in the game until they made it to overtime.
