It is that time of the year again. It is the season of hot chocolate, snow and the annual Ugly Sweater races. On Dec. 6, the Manheim Township Cross Country team will be hosting three races—a 5K run, a 5K walk and a one mile fun run. Both the 5K run and the 5K walk will begin at 10 a.m and are open to participants of all ages. However, the fun run will start at 10:35 a.m, and is targeted toward children 13 and under, with the age cut off being Dec. 2, 2012.

The Ugly Sweater Run is a way to mix fitness, fun and festivity. All participants are encouraged to show their holiday spirit by wearing their favorite ugly sweater. Additionally, participants can compete for “Best Group Costume,” so feel free to dress up and show your creativity. Thanks to many generous sponsors, following the races there will be hot chocolate, soup and cookies for all runners.

Registration for all races is available until 9 a.m. on Dec. 6. However, registering for the 5Ks before Dec. 4 will have a participation fee of  $35, and registering after Dec. 4 will be $40. The participation fee for the Fun Run is $20 up until Dec. 6. All proceeds from the races will go to the MTXC Booster Club, so be sure to participate.
