The MT football team advanced to the District Three 6A semifinals for the fourth straight year by beating Hempfield 49-7 on Friday, Nov. 7. Township (10-1) will travel to face second-seeded Harrisburg (11-0) on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. for the chance to play in the district championship.
Senior Daryus Dixon led the way for the Blue Streaks on both sides of the ball Friday night, turning in a historic night. He opened the scoring with a 39-yard interception return for a touchdown, one of three interceptions he had on the night. On offense, he caught five passes for 154 yards and three touchdowns (43, 34 and 61 yards, respectively).
Sophomore running back PJ Myers added 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. Senior Allan Feliciano also had a touchdown for Township. Senior quarterback Jack Kenneff went 8-14 for 178 passing yards and three touchdowns, all to Dixon.
Defensively, Luke Wagner had a QB sack and Zach Bomberger added an interception.
