On Friday, Oct. 31, the MTHS Key Club celebrated Halloween with its Trick-or-Teach event where teachers dress up in elaborate costumes if they hit the money goal that they present to their students. This year, students and teachers raised over $250 to donate to UNICEF to help support children’s rights, health and education.
“Trick-or-Teach is one of our biggest service traditions during the Halloween season,” said senior Emily Lai, Key Club president. “It’s always a super fun way of getting both staff and students involved in something greater.”
Several teachers presented the goal to their students including Mr. Boring, Ms. Matto, Mr. Broderic, Mr. Rutledge and Mr. Dick. Many of these teachers have participated in past years while others are new to the tradition. Nonetheless, both teachers and students enjoyed seeing their charities pay off.
“I took part in Trick-or-Teach because one: I love dressing up for Halloween and Miss Griffith already asked me to dress up as Mr. Jones,” said Miss Motto. “Two: It raises money for a good cause. If I’m going to have fun, I might as well make it count towards something.”
