Fall brings many exciting things for Manheim Township students, including fall sports, football games, and of course, homecoming. There’s so many reasons to celebrate our school. Student council created a spirit week from Oct. 15-18 as a way for Township students to honor the school and have fun.
Spirit weeks are used by many schools, especially before exciting activities and events. In Manheim Township’s case, it was used for Homecoming.
There was a new theme every day that students were able to dress up for. While it’s optional, if you chose to dress to the theme, you showed your school spirit, prepared for the event coming your way and created a community with the rest of your classmates.
“Spirit week is important for the school community. It helps the students and teachers feel connected to one another and the school. It’s also great for school pride,” said English teacher Dylan Kranch.
Tuesday the 15: Neon Class Colors
After the long weekend, dressing in neon colors definitely got Township ready for the week. The colors everyone wore were according to their grade. Freshman- orange, sophomore- blue, juniors- green/yellow, seniors- pink. Everyone was spirited, showing their commitment to the theme by dressing in their color. Whether it was head to toe in neon orange, or just an array of pink necklaces, Township showed their spirit.
Wednesday the 16: Adam Sandler Day
Students embraced their inner Happy Gilmore on Wednesday by dressing up as everyone’s favorite fashion icon, Adam Sandler. While most students went with the usual baggy T-shirt/ shorts combo, others went all out. Some students were seen wearing a backwards baseball hat, sunglasses, and even drawing on Sandler’s beard.
Thursday the 17: Tropical
It may be getting colder, but on Thursday students dressed tropical. Leis and Hawaiian shirts were spotted all over the building. Students went all out during tropical day, some even grabbing sunglasses.
Friday the 18: Blue and White
Friday was your day to show your school spirit. Township dressed in school colors to show their MT pride. Friday was also the Homecoming football game, Township against Penn Manor. Once again, the Streaks took the win, defeating the Comets 42-14.
Overall, I think all of Township can say it was a successful week. Students showed their spirit for exciting events ahead. Spirit week, the pep rally, the football game, and of course, homecoming were a blast, and its safe to assume that next year will be just as good if not better.
