Entering the fourth marking period can be daunting for some students, due to the stressful workload from tedious end of the year tests. However, MTHS has various events planned to celebrate the end of another successful year. Clubs such as Student Council and Student Government have worked hard to organize fun events both inside and outside of school.

5. Graduation

Although this event is reserved only for students who have met their graduation requirements, graduation is a well-planned and exciting event to celebrate students that will be moving on to the next chapter of their lives. The theme for the graduation of the Class of 2024 is beach and will take place on Thursday, June 6 at Calvary Church. Graduates are given three tickets each for their family members to attend the event, and additional tickets can be bought through the school.

4. Muskrat Day

This annual event was created by The Neighborhood, a group of teachers at the end of the East Wing hallway in the basement. It takes place on Friday, May 24 and its purpose is to commemorate former Neighborhood teacher Mr. Enck’s success in trapping a muskrat in the closet at the end of the East Wing using only a Slim Jim many years ago. All MTHS students are welcomed to attend this event and celebrate both the end of the school year and the legend of Mr. Enck’s success. The event will either be held right outside of Mr. K. Kantz’s room or at the end of the basement level East Wing.

3. Spring Sports Playoffs

The regular seasons of the spring MT sports teams will start to wrap up at the end of April and will hopefully be looking to participate in league, district, and state competitions. Last year these teams brought in five league championships, three district championships, and appeared in five PIAA state tournaments. These teams have the goal to meet and exceed the successes of last year as post-season play begins.

2. Clash of Classes

This end-of-year celebration organized by the student council is one last competition between the classes. Students will have the opportunity to play small carnival games at booths from other clubs around the school such as Mini-THON and Interact Club. At the end of the event the classes will sit together to compete as a unit for the title of the “Best Grade.” This event will take place on May 17 from 7-9 p.m. in the MT stadium.

1. Prom and Senior Sunday

MT Prom is the last school dance for the senior class and one last opportunity to get dressed up and have a good time with friends in high school. The dance will take place on Saturday, April 27 at the Eden Resort from 5-10 p.m. The theme of this year’s dance is “A Night in Athens.” The day after prom, parents of the graduating seniors have organized Senior Sunday to celebrate the seniors’ accomplishment of graduating high school with brunch and games. This event will begin on Sunday, April 28 at noon and tickets can be purchased at the door.
