“The happiest moment of my life was definitely when my sister was born. I feel like after she was born, I finally had a best friend. We’re four years apart so there’s obviously a lot of fighting, but I never really felt responsible for her–like the older sister that has to babysit her little siblings all the time. I feel like we have an unexplainable bond, and I know I can always talk to her about anything. She always knows how to make me laugh because she’s somehow naturally funny. I can always talk to her about anything, even [things] I don’t talk to my parents about. I can rant to her about my classes even though she doesn’t understand what’s happening, and then she just listens. And sometimes that’s all you need. It’s a love-hate relationship because sometimes I’ll be having a really rough day and she’ll just come up to me and say something like ‘you’re really ugly’. Over the years, I’ve definitely learned not to take everything she says to heart because part of her humor is just sarcasm. Whenever she needs help with her schoolwork, I always help her, and she picks it up really fast so it’s really nice and easy. She doesn’t really complain if I forget how to do something because I know most siblings would find a way to blame it on you, but she just moves on and finds someone else to ask. I’m so excited to watch her grow up and succeed in life, and I know our bond will only get stronger from here on.”
