Makayla Brown, a student at MTHS, will be travelling with the Cavalcade of Bands Honor Band’s color guard in order to participate in both a parade at Disneyland and in the prized Rose Parade. She is the only representative from MTHS participating with the Honor Band, but will be joining around one hundred other students from nearby areas to participate in the events; which include the Rose Bowl parade, another parade at Disneyland, and a banquet.

Makayla is set to depart to California on December 28th, and will arrive home late on January 3rd. Though she is excited, she has expressed concern over her knee injury and how it will affect her during the eight mile-long parade. “Even with the physical therapy I’m going to be doing to be doing before the trip, it might not be enough and I might not be able to walk the whole 8 miles,” she said. Regardless of her concerns, Makayla is excited to spend time with her friends and perform.
