Summer is on its way! And as we all know, summer means hit songs and new album releases. Now seems to be the time for artists to release new music. In just the past couple months, many hits have been released. While the list could go on for quite a while, here’s a list of the top 5 albums newly released.
Number 5: Lizzy McAlpine, “Older” (April 5)
Lizzy McAlpine is an artist I can always count on for chill music with expressive lyrics and a catchy melody. McAlpine’s new album, “Older,” is just that. A sweet yet sad album that reflects on Lizzy’s life so far. At least for me, this album brought some nostalgia, and I’m sure for many long time fans, this album could even be an emotional experience.
Number 4: Conan Grey, “Found Heaven” (April 5)
Conan’s third studio album released last month and from what I’ve heard, left some fans confused and curious. It seems Grey took a turn with his music style, as this album is different from his others. People have noticed an 80’s feel to this album, and most seem to like this change. As always, Conans unique style and stunning voice make this album and amazing piece of music and a lot of fun to listen to.
Number 3: Dua Lipa, “Radical Optimism” (May 3)
Once again, Dua Lipa created a hit album. I find myself humming many of her songs so often, and this album brought that even more. All of Lipa’s songs have an upbeat energy and can only be defined as classic, catchy pop. She first released three singles: “Houdini,” “Illusion,” and “Training Season.” This album seems well received among fans and popular among others who might not be as familiar with her. The icon Dua Lipa never fails to make a hit album and please her many fans.
Number 2: Billie Eilish, “Hit Me Hard And Soft” (May 17)
The long awaited “Hit Me Hard And Soft,” Billie Eilish’s third studio album, released only last week and is already a hit. Just knowing Billie Eilish fans made me anxious, as almost all Billie fans were eagerly waiting for the release. In the week it’s been out, it’s gained a ton of popularity. Eilish made sure to make the album a passionate one, giving her fans an emotional roller ride of a listening experience. She announced her tour before the release, making her fans go crazy. She just released the music video for her song “LUNCH” as well as an extended version of the song, “L’AMOUR DE MA VIE.”
Number 1: Taylor Swift, “The Tortured Poets Department” (April 19)
Taylor Swift’s 11th studio album released one month ago, leaving Swifties in a frenzy. Swift announced the album at the Grammys on March 10, shocking fans all over the world. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit biased to Taylor Swift, being a fan myself. However, when it came down to it, this high-grossing album was an immediate hit and ended up on the Billboard Hot 100’s first 14 spots for a good portion of time. Taylor shocked fans (once again) by releasing a second part to the album, “The Anthology,” for a total of 31 songs on the album. Taylor never disappoints her fans and she once again made an album that almost everyone fell in love with.
Honorable Mention: Benson Boone, “Fireworks & Rollerblades”
I feel that Benson Boone is a fairly new artist and has only gained popularity somewhat recently. His new album, “Fireworks & Rollerblades,” has started trending with many of his songs hitting social media platforms like TikTok. “In the Stars,” “Cry” and “Slow It Down” are only some of the songs that have gained popularity as well as everyone’s favorite, “Beautiful Things.” Benson makes sure to show off his amazing vocals and plenty of high notes in many of his tracks.
