On Saturday, April 26, Manheim Township School District and the Manheim Township Recreation Department will be hosting their first annual Earth Day Festival. The event will take place from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Overlook Park & Activity Center.
At the event, there will be many activities, including a native plant sale, live music, a makers market, arts and crafts and food trucks. There will also be presenters on the environment, a community cleanup and a recycling drive to help raise awareness for the environment.
“We wanted to create a new community event that helps educate the public about important environmental topics while giving Manheim Township students a spotlight to showcase their own learning for the public. Our goal is to empower students to grow as community leaders while fostering a strong sense of environmental responsibility,” said Kelsey Grove, an MT art teacher and organizer of the event.
This event is free, and participants are encouraged to attend to learn about ways that they can help the environment in their communities and to enjoy the activities that will be offered.
“We hope that the MT Earth Fest will teach all participants that small changes can add up to a huge impact for our local community and the planet,” said Grove.
In order for the festival to be a success, the organizers are looking for volunteers. As a volunteer, you could set up a table and share advice for how to be eco-friendly, help run activities or perform on stage. E-mail [email protected] if you are interested.
