On March 21, nine clubs from MTHS had the opportunity to compete in designing the best mini golf hole at Landis Run Intermediate School (LRIS) to potentially win a cash prize. The cash prizes included $500 for first, $300 for second and $100 for third place.
“The money prizes definitely motivated me the most,” said Vinaya Doshi, a member of MTTEC.
The clubs that competed included Aevidum, Chess Team, Frisbee, Interact Club, Lion’s Leo and MTTEC, as well as Tri-M and UNICEF. The class officers of 2026 also participated in the challenge.
The themes of this year’s clubs included Aevidum as Inside Out, the Chess Team as Under the Sea and the Frisbee team as outdoors, even using frisbees in their course. Interact Club did Minecraft, Lion’s Leo created a Candyland course, MTTEC designed a city-like world and Tri-M used objects related to music by using real instruments and sheet music. UNICEF also did Minecraft and the Class of 2026 created a course designed with references to Generation Alpha brain rot.
“It was a really fun time,” said Dung Tran, a UNICEF member. “I got to hang out with my friends and be creative which is something I don’t do often but I enjoyed it.”
The club members had five hours to design their golf hole with the hopes of attaining the most popular votes. The main event occured on March 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and was open to anyone who wished to attend.
“We thought that most of the kids would be attracted to the candy, so we were hoping that it would get us some votes,” said Lion’s Leo president Karly Chau. “One challenging part of the design process was that there was a limited amount of time. It felt kind of stressful, but in the end it was still fun to work with my club members.”
The winners of the 2025 event were MTTEC in first place, Frisbee in second and Tri-M in third.
