Attention Township! Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a competitive swimmer? Now is the time to find out: the Manheim Township’s Swim and Dive Team will be hosting its very own Relay Rumble on Sunday, Feb. 23, in the MTHS Natatorium from 2-4 p.m. Student teams will be able to compete in various fun relays, including an inflatable tube relay and a kick board relay, to earn points and get a taste of what it is like to be on the swim team. Whichever team has the most points by the end of the “meet,” as it is called in swimming lingo, will be crowned the victor of the first ever Township Relay Rumble.
In order to compete you need to create a team of four to six students and ensure each group member knows how to swim and is comfortable in the water, as the event takes place in the pool. To sign up, simply scan the QR code on the Relay Rumble fliers hung up around the school, fill out the information, and then keep an eye out for an email with further instructions. Or sign up through this Google form.
Student teams are encouraged to fundraise before the event takes place as all proceeds will go towards a charity selected by the Swim and Dive Team. In addition, the teams that raise the most money will have extra points added to their final score, which could very well help them win the trophy.
For spectators, the general admission is a recommended donation of $3 to your favorite team competing. The money donated will later be factored into the team’s total fundraising at the end of the relays.
There will be many different opportunities to earn points, so teams should bring some spare cash. If they wish they can “purchase” a swimmer for a price to aid them in one of their relays or even attempt to race a swimmer for additional points.
