Unified Track is a sport that embodies inclusivity. In this sport, students with and without intellectual disabilities work together to compete and help each other reach their fullest potential. The Manheim Township Unified Track team was established in 2023. Since then, the team has created a reputation for themselves. In both 2023 and 2024 the team won the state championship.
On Wednesday, Dec. 4, Sen. Aument came to Manheim Township High School to recognize the accomplishments of the Unified Track team. During the ceremony, each member of the 2023 and 2024 team were recognized and given medals for their accomplishments.
Not only was the Unified Track team recognized for their accolades, but they were noticed for the positive way they represented Manheim Township. The team’s dedication, inclusivity and talent has inspired the unified sports community and the school. At the ceremony, Manheim Township clubs gathered to support the team in their recognition.
Junior Anneliese Denlinger was a part of both the 2023 and 2024 state championship teams.
“Participating in Unified Track was a great experience. It was about more than the competition. It was about building friendships and teamwork. It showed me the importance of inclusion and supporting each other to reach our fullest potential,” she said.
The team looks forward to another strong 2025 season with hopes of achieving a third consecutive state title.
