On Friday, Nov. 15, the top-seeded MT football team lost to fifth-seeded Harrisburg 35-14 in the District 3 Class 6A semifinals. This was their final game of the season, bringing their record to 10-2.
Township trailed just 21-14 at halftime but was held scoreless by the Cougars in the second half as Harrisburg (10-2) pulled away to set up a district title game with second-seeded Wilson (11-1) on Friday, Nov. 22.
Seniors Carson Weisser and Lex Haberbosch paced the passing game for Township. Weisser finished 14-27 for two TDs and one interception, while Haberbosch caught seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Township was forced to play without wide receiver Daryus Dixon (2-28-1) for most of the game after he was forced out with an injury in the first half. Senior Declan Clancy led the Streaks on the ground with 78 yards on 18 carries and leaves Township as the program’s all-time leading rusher in yards and touchdowns.
Defensively, Clancy and senior Thomas Capizzi led the way with 11 tackles each. Junior Riley Rontal added seven tackles and junior Marcos Fernandez came away with the Streaks’ only sack.
