Manheim Township is hosting the second annual BeFast Invite on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 9:30 a.m.
Created and facilitated by MT senior Cole Stevens, the event is designed for all ages and seeks to raise money for community stroke education and stroke support groups.
Inspired by the challenges his own family faced after his mom experienced a stroke, Stevens seeks to make a difference for the next family that has this experience.
The meet consists of eight track events, the 100, 200, 400 800, 1600, 3200, 5000 and a special event titled the “Milk Mile,” which has the most sign-ups at 73 total (52 boys, 21 girls). A milk mile is an event where you start by drinking 12 ounces of milk, then after each lap drink another 12 oz. There is a total of 48 oz. of milk that is drunk. Awards will be given for top 3 finishers in each age group and gender.
The event costs $10 per person, with an additional $15 option for a t-shirt.
Last year the event raised over $6,200 for stroke awareness, and Stevens aims to increase that number with this year’s event. With already 164 signups, Stevens is on track to reach that goal.
This year the event hopes to continue its success and raise more money to support stroke awareness.
