On Oct. 18, Manheim Township High School hosted its 2024 pep rally for the Homecoming game against Penn Manor. It was held in the arena during a club period. The pep rally included performances and appearances from fall sports teams, the cheer squad, the dance team, the marching band and the school mascot.
“I’m always most excited for the teacher dance with the senior cheerleaders and dancers,” said junior cheerleader Ally Eager.
The pep rally also included events with the Homecoming court, which included the court and a partner of their choice. The first event they played was Ships and Sailors. The game started with all the teams following orders from the person who leads the game, usually a cheerleader. If one of the people on the team messes up an order then both team members are out. This goes on until there is one team left. The game tends to get more suspenseful as more teams get eliminated.
For the last event, Mr. Evans came out to do a competition between grades to see who could be the loudest. He started this off by listing decibel records for college stadiums and NFL stadiums. He then went around to each grade level to compete for who could break the school record. At the very end he had the whole arena go at once to get it as loud as possible as a way to get people excited about the Homecoming game.
