This year’s Homecoming football game will be on Oct. 18. The event is filled with much anticipation, as the varsity football team will compete with Penn Manor. The marching band and color guard will perform a pre-game recital and the announcement of Homecoming queen will occur during halftime.
“I really enjoy when the crowd interacts with the game and also dancing whenever the band plays when we score,” said junior cheerleader Ally Eager.
As usual, food trucks funded by the Booster club will have quick meals and drinks such as chicken tenders, fries, lemonade, acai bowls and milkshakes. Additionally, concessions towards the back of the bleachers also sell food and drinks such as nachos and Gatorade.
“My favorite part of the football games is definitely dressing up for the themes and cheering my heart out in the student section,” said junior Mia Alison. “I really feel connected with my peers when I’m there, and I enjoy buying the chicken tenders and fries the most.”
The pep rally is one of the events during the school day prior to the Homecoming game that is meant to encourage students to get rallied with excitement. The Homecoming game follows the same evening and is meant to bring school spirit as well as cheer on the football team that currently has a record of 7-0 so far.
“I enjoy seeing the students have fun and watching them get hyped up for homecoming weekend,” said English teacher and Student Council advisor Mr. Kranch, who organizes the pep rally at MTHS. “Although it’s a lot of preparation to put together, the pay off of strong school spirit and joy for the student body is what makes it worth it.”
