As fall rolls around, so does the excitement for all things surrounding Homecoming season. Recently, the seniors voted for who they wanted to see on the Homecoming Court this year. On Sept. 23, the results were revealed with the following girls being nominated: Teagan Byler, Neve Dvorchak, Katherine Gaalswyck, Paisley Kappesser, Maisy Lapp, Alisyn Mulholland, Jocelyn Parise, Meghan Phillips, Sofia Shorter, Brooke Weaver and Lucia Yost.
Most of the girls were in agreement that being nominated was an unexpected, yet welcome surprise.
“I honestly really didn’t expect to be nominated for court. There are so many beautiful and amazing girls in our school, and the fact that only 10 would be on court was mind boggling to me,” said Shorter.
Regardless of the surprise, all the court members are supportive of each other, no matter who may win in the end.
“I’m so glad about the entire group of girls that are on it because everyone is so fun,” said Kappesser.
“All of the girls on the court are so cool and deserving of this, so I would be super happy for any of them if they won,” said Shorter.
Not only do they cherish their peers on the court, but they are also thankful for the opportunity provided to them.
“I know it’s completely cliche, but it’s seriously an honor just to be nominated and I really do appreciate it,” said Mulholland.
Voting for Homecoming queen has already begun and seniors have until Oct. 18 at 7 a.m. to cast their vote. The winner will be announced during halftime at the Homecoming football game on Oct. 18 as well.
However, before a queen is crowned that night, all the girls on court will be participating in the Homecoming pep rally games with a partner of their choosing. The pep rally will be held during school this Friday.
The games turn pretty competitive as the girls give it their all to be the winning team.
“I honestly don’t know who is going to win. I feel like we are all pretty competitive, which will definitely make it so much fun,” said Mulholland.
There may be competition to watch out for as Phillips said she and her teammate, Lily Briner, are “both competitive and in it to win it.”
Others are more doubtful of the rally’s outcome. Gaalswyck, who is partnering with fellow senior Nick Rockwell, said “he really is in it to win it, but I’m pretty sure that I’ll end up getting us out first.”
At the end of the day, no matter win or loss, the court will continue to love and support one another as everyone eagerly awaits the Homecoming game and dance.
