On Oct. 2nd, the girls tennis team competed in the Lancaster-Lebanon (LL) League Finals against Hempfield at the Hershey Racquet Club.
The season concluded with an undefeated sweep, the team posting a 16-0 record. Township had an eight year streak of titles until last season when Hempfield came for the win. Despite this, the girls were determined to win back their title.
Township defeated Hempfield with a score of 3-0. The scoring leaders were: Haley Miller who won 6-0, 6-1; doubles Lilly Briner and Ellie Evans 6-2, 6-1; and the second doubles Mariel Keares and Gianna Conte 6-4, 6-0.
“This season looked different since we lost so many seniors in our top line up,” said Miller, the No.1 Class 3A singles bracket leader for the LL League.
Despite losing so many key players, captains Camille Honrade and Briner were ready to start up the season again while also having strong support from Miller, who was also one of the 2023 LL League all stars.
“Going into the match we were hopeful but we did lose to them last year in the final,” said Miller. “We were very excited to play them again in the final.”
Congratulations to the team and their fantastic players this season.
