MT Color Run

Picture this: people running through campus getting bombarded with colored powder. This isn’t some bizzare cross-country run or internet challenge: it’s the Color Run that will take over campus on October 22nd.

A color run is a fun, stress-free, and colorful 5K. Mrs. Stockwell, middle school PTO co-president and event organizer, described the Color Run as “a ‘fun run’ where participants run or walk (or jog) during the 5K course [while] volunteers throw colored powder on the participants.” In fact, the colored powder isn’t the only unique thing about this 5K. Participants will have staggered departures so they all have a chance to enjoy the color stations, starting at 10 a.m., and the race will not be officially timed. “The main goal is not to be the fastest but to have fun,” Mrs. Stockwell commented.

Indeed, the Color Run promises to be a fun event for all ages and athletic abilities. As mentioned earlier, participants can choose to run or walk. In addition, Mrs. Riley, middle school PTO co-vice-president, ensured that the route was stroller friendly, so entire families could participate. And, if parents are concerned about their strollers getting colored (or participants want to leave their clothes uncolored), they can easily avoid the color stations by staying on the main route.

MT teachers, students, and staff will find the route a very familiar path: it goes around our very own campus. According to Mrs. Riley, the route will start and end at the middle school and pass the high school on the way to Landis Run. The route will make use of both sidewalks and roads on campus.

The cost to register is $20, which includes a t-shirt. Interested participants should hurry, as the cost increases to $25 after October 1st and a t-shirt will no longer be guaranteed. All proceeds from the event will support the middle school PTO, so participants can have fun and support our middle school. To sign up, go to https://tinyurl.com/MTMSColorRun-22. Enjoy the Color Run!
