The Manheim Township boys soccer team won its first two District Three playoff games last week, setting up a semifinal match against rival Warwick on Tuesday night. Warwick reached the semifinals with a 1-0 win in double overtime against Central Dauphin. Warwick bested Township 2-1 in the Lancaster-Lebanon League championship game on Wednesday, Oct. 15 in the two teams’ last meeting. The teams split their regular season matches and will face off for the fourth time tonight with a district championship game berth on the line.
In the first round of districts on Tuesday Oct. 21, Township (11-5-2) beat New Oxford 3-0.
The Streaks then advanced to face 12th seeded Exeter in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 25. Senior Carter Collier scored the game’s lone goal off a corner from Malaki Starnowski in the 13th minute of the first half to give Township all the offense it would need in front of goalie Miles Minnich. With the win, Township also clinched a state playoff berth with Saturday’s win.
