On Wednesday, Oct. 15, the MT girls soccer team defeated Penn Manor in the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship at Penn Medicine Park. The final score of the game 1-0, with the winning goal scored by junior Justyne Nguyen assisted by senior co-captain Alivian Parmer.
The team maintained its streak of winning the L-L League championship game for the fourth year in a row.
Though success seems to radiate through the team, sophomore Moira Brennan spoke about the most important factors that led the team to this victory.
“Our chemistry and communication definitely played a huge role,” Brennan said. “Everyone played for the team, not just for themselves and that made such a big difference.”
For the seniors, their fourth consecutive L-L League Championship victory holds immense value. Parmer spoke about the moment she shared with senior Nikki Nguyen when this win sunk in for her.
“I was walking across the field with Nikki to get our medals and we realized we had never lost a league game in our entire career,” she said.
Township won their next playoff game on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at home with a final score of 3-1. Parmer, senior co-captain Regan Taylor and Justyne Ngyuen scored the three goals. Parmer and Taylor both further contributed with an assist each.
The Blue Streaks will continue their post-season in district quarterfinals against Central York at home on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m.
