On Wednesday, Sept. 24, the Manheim Township field hockey team played against Hempfield under the lights for an interleague matchup. After the Blue Streaks’ and Black Knights’ previous face-off on Sept. 10, Township walked away with a 5-1 win. Wednesday’s gameday was particularly significant, as it was senior night for the team’s eight seniors.
Seniors Ava Culbertson, Oly Sponagle, Cami Schwartz, Alli Kane, Elizabeth Maurer, Olivia Spearing, Rhylee Givens and Addison Landis were all honored during a pre-game ceremony.
Township grabbed a 4-1 victory over Hempfield, improving their overall record to 6-6-2. Goals were scored by Maurer, freshman Kenzie Givens (2), and Spearing. Junior Julia Weaver had three assists.
The Blue Streaks will continue the season with their upcoming away game at Cedar Crest on Friday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m.
